Abstract

Drug administration, dosage and dose calculation are of great importance in paediatric patients. In urgent cases, drugs that are administered intranasally, buccally or rectally are very frequently used. Their application is much easier and safer for the user. Subcutaneous infusion started to be used in the 1940s for paediatric patients to treat dehydration. It is a safe, convenient and reasonably priced method for fluid replacement and administration of some drugs. The use of subcutaneous infusion is recommended in the latest guidelines.
