Abstract

Hip displacement is a frequent skeletal complication in children with cerebral palsy. It mainly occurs due to spasticity and contracture of the hip muscles. Early recognition of signs is important to prevent hip dislocation. Therefore regular clinical and radiological monitoring for children with cerebral palsy and early hip subluxation is recommended. Treatment includes preventative, reconstructive or palliative options, directed towards painless standing, walking, sitting and personal care.

Key words: cerebral palsy, hip dislocation
