TROMBIDIOSIS (CHIGGER BITES) – A CASE REPORT

Abstract

Trombidiosis is an ectoparasitosis caused by mites from the Trombiculidae family. The classical clinical presentation is intense pruritus and cutaneous inflammation. The diagnosis is clinical, based on the history of recent outdoor activities and the appearance of typical cutaneous lesions at the sites of predilection. Treatment is symptomatic, directed at the cutaneous changes, itch and the prevention of secondary infections.
