Abstract

Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the skin. It is more frequent in younger children. It typically appears on different parts of the body in different age groups in those children who have a genetic predisposition to atopic diseases and are exposed to various environmental factors. Clinically, the disease manifests itself as dry skin with severe pruritus and inflammatory skin changes. Such altered skin is also more exposed to infections. In medical treatment it is necessary to avoid allergens and other causative factors as much as possible. The most important element, however, is regular and proper skin care, even after the condition improves and there are no visible inflammatory skin changes.

Key words: atopic dermatitis, skin care, child, topical medications.
