Abstract

The paper presents the position of radiologists comparing comprehensive ultrasound (US) examinations with point-of-care US (POCUS) examinations and current activities in the field of certification of POCUS providers. The successful implementation of POCUS in adult emergency medicine, where clearly defined competencies were implemented and clinical questions with simple answers (yes/no) are used, confirmed the need for clear definitions for diagnostic US in various fields, as presented in this paper. The aim of current activities is to ensure reliable and safe performance of US examinations by non-radiologists after appropriate education.
